The Health and Fitness Program at the School of Kinesiology is perfect for students interested in wellness, personal training, coaching, or being a health and fitness educator. This is a rapidly growing field and graduates are in high demand. Mission

The Health and Fitness Program at the University of Michigan School of Kinesiology provides a science-based curriculum focusing on physical activity across the lifespan. Our program prepares students for careers and advanced learning in health promotion while addressing the health and wellness needs for people of all ages and abilities.

Program Overview

Health and Fitness majors will participate in a well-rounded curriculum that extensively examines the biological, psychological, social, business, research, and clinical aspects of health and fitness. In addition to coursework, students will engage in a variety of internships and experiential learning opportunities that will train them how to assess and promote health and physical activity across the lifespan through preventative and therapeutic methods.

The Health and Fitness curriculum includes courses that prepare students to take a variety of professional certification exams, as well as business and legal courses that can inspire new start-ups or other entrepreneurial endeavors.

Students who complete the Health and Fitness Program receive a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree.
